The Army Built a 200-Acre Mississippi River
The Mississippi River Basin Model was a 200-acre working model of the Mississippi River system, built by the Army Corps of Engineers near Clinton, Mississippi, starting in 1943 with German POW labor. In 1952 it helped forecast the Missouri River flood at Omaha. It now sits overgrown in a Jackson city park.
